Cheap, reliable, low noise roofing material, which forgot in Europe, remember in the US and Canada, remember in Russia

Cheap, reliable, low noise, — this does not happen, you say. And in many ways will be right. Almost all modern materials satisfy only two qualities of three:

Take absolutely any roofing material, the total one is only two qualities. But there is one, undeservedly forgotten who satisfies all three. It costs decades, it is easily replaced, it is easy to repair, before it was so-so in appearance, and now it’s quite a beautiful, almost no cozy in the rain, and the price is so general a gift.

Now I will explain everything.

Slate was invented in 1901 and immediately broke into the building materials market. At first it was an elite material that only concrete rich can afford. Over time, engineers were able to slowly reduce its production, and slate began to cost a penny in the root.

The peak of popularity came at the end of the 90s, when they were closed all the roofs of Europe and America, but also the Soviet Union. And in the villages, and not only the Soviet, slate generally found its permanent residence permit: any shed, an extension and even the most necessary place (where the soul becomes easier) was covered with one or two slate sheets.

The main problem of this material was that in Europe he was very cheap, you can even say too cheaply. And it did not like the manufacturers of other roofing materials.

Due to slate production, roofing metal sales decreased by more than 14 times!

Sales of ceramic tiles fell more than 20 times.

In short, half of Europe collected such sufferers and a small trolley. And then they decided to hit the salty place in the patient himself — its composition. The fact is that Slate in an enlightened europeshchina made from very harmful amphibole asbestos, which is strongly dust, accumulates in the lungs and from there is not displayed. The consequence of this is the potentially possible Kirdyk to human body in the near future.

On the wave of a rising campaign against asbestos, in 2005, Europe prohibits slate.

All other countries, for example, Canada, USA, China, Brazil, and another polio, slate was not forbidden, as they do it roofing from chrysotile. He, of course, also dust, but firstly, no one sleeps under the roof in an embrace with a slate sheet, secondly, the asbestos content has long been learned to bind additives.

And what in Russia?

The peak of the popularity of the slate has seen on 60-80. With the collapse of the USSR, it was available to a buzz of roofing coatings, and the fame of the material for toilets and the shed remained behind the slate. What is very sad, as so far, many villagers calmly crook their homes with slate and do not blow on the mustache.

For example, the roof of my old village house is covered with slate, which shouted 61 years old. Can a soft roof, Ondulin or a professional sheet to withstand so much?

Very doubt!

And slate, like roofing technology, does not stand still:

Installation technology has changed — a special fastener appeared, which himself brightens the hole, it cries and seals the soft gasket under the hat.

In recent years, in Canada and the United States, and now we have become fashionable to put slate under the imitation of ceramic tiles. Some manufacturers produce a slate leaf of a shortened size with cropped corners — the roof looks like a real tile. Below, of course, a weak example, but in any case it looks worthy.

And what is the position of our Ministry of Health? The same as in the USA and Canada: chrysotile slate is absolutely harmless to human health. In 2011, he was trying to prohibit in Russia with the filing guess who, but not rolled.

So, very high probability that in your new rustic house I will make a roof from a color slate. Especially with the current prices for a professional sheet and metal tile … It’s just pain … Slate is less and less alternatives, at least for econom builders.
